THE STORYTELLER 2012

INDEPENDENT/JONGIBSON.COM

In 2005, Jon put some investors together to fund his independent label New Soul Records. After receiving a cold shoulder from the GMA for his attempt to present his independent label and first product "Soulful Hymns," Jon had to go back to the drawing board obtaining the software and gear to produce a new project in the comfort of his Irvine, California home.  Jon composed The Storyteller album between 2003 and 2007 as a tribute to the life of his father Stan Gibson, who was battling an aggressive cancer that would in a short time take his life in 2005. It was independently released in 2012. Jon recalls that it was the toughest project he had ever done because of losing his closest friend during the process, his father. With invaluable help from music professor Steve Merrick and mixing engineer Dennis Moody the album was finally released to the public. The album cover picture was taken by his wife Lisa Gibson while hanging out at the park across the street. The artwork and layout was produced by Lambo Studios in Nashville, TN.
